2. The realm or state of the dead
--2 Samuel-- The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; (22:6) --Job-- Dead [things] are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. (26:5) --Psalms-- For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks (6:5) As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness (17:15) What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth (30:9) But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me.
